It's a Wrap! QUO VADIS 2017 says Thank You!

The 15th QUO VADIS is over and has been a huge success. With not less than 210 speakers, the international game conference in Berlin was bigger than ever and welcomed developers, business professionals, young talents and students. Here's a short recap - and a date to mark in your calendar: QUO VADIS returns April 23 - 25, 2018!

On April 24, QUO VADIS opened its doors and thus kicked off International Games Week Berlin. From Monday to Wednesday, the conference offered an extensive program with talks, panels, workshops and more, covering a broad range of current topics in game development.

For example, Pawel Saskos (CD Projekt RED) offered an analysis of selected quests from “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt”, Glen Schofield looked back on his 32 years in game development and Debbie Bestwicks (Team 17) gave advice to Indie studios, how to successfully pitch games and how to stay independent from publishers.

Tobias Kopka, Program Director for QUO VADIS: “For the 15th anniversary, we expanded our line-up with 210 speakers. The topics of the conference also included the many challenges that the industry is facing in these days: from financial struggles at many gaming companies to games that try to represent all classes of population, or the difficulty to keep track of the rapidly changing technology. Now that QUO VADIS has ended, we are looking forward to the rest of Games Week Berlin and especially A Maze."

Best of QUO VADIS

On Tuesday, it was the night of the Indies: 10 teams took the main stage, each of them having only 5 minutes to pitch their project to the jury. Collin Bishop (Crytek), Eline Muijres (Dutch Game Garden), Mike Hines (Amazon Appstore) and Thomas Bidaux (ICO Partners) then made their decision and chose “We are Müesli” from Italy and their Game “SIHEYU4N” as Best of QUO VADIS 2017.

Aside from a bag of money the prize includes a two-day trip to Frankfurt for two members of the winning team to visit CRYENGINE headquarters. During the trip, they will have the opportunity to talk about development and get insight directly from Crytek’s battle-hardened movers and shakers on their exclusive behind-the-scenes visit.
